How to Measure Vibration?

Vibration is an essential measure to know the technical condition of the machine. While analyzing vibration can be a complex process, understanding the basic structure of vibration may be a more simplified way.

For vibration analysis, two different devices are needed: an accelerometer and a second device that performs vibration analysis to display the information measured by the accelerometer. The accelerometer consists of a mass moving inside a coil. This movement is caused by the accelerometer fixed to the machine moving with the machine. More movement means more voltage and, in direct proportion to this, vibration. In its simplest form, an accelerometer is a sensor that produces a voltage output.
